How much is Cloud DVR?


New and existing Sling customers can add Cloud DVR for $5 per month.


What is my storage capacity?


Cloud DVR users receive 50 hours of cloud storage.


Can I buy more Cloud DVR storage?

What devices can I get Cloud DVR on?


Cloud DVR is available on all devices except the Xfinity X1 platform. To see all devices that support Sling, start here. 


What channels can I record?


Cloud DVR functionality is available for all live content, except the following channels:


  • Disney channels (Disney Channel, Disney Jr., Disney XD and Freeform)
  • Digital Networks (Local Now, ESPN3, ACC Network Extra and SEC Network+)


Can I save or protect recordings?


If you have a show or movie you'd like to watch over and over, you can choose to protect your recordings from being auto-deleted if you reach your storage capacity.



Simply choose the option to Protect when selecting a program to record.



Add or Remove Cloud DVR from your subscription

Add Cloud DVR from My Account


To add DVR to your account online, log in to your account at sling.com, then select Change Subscription on the My Account page. 


Select Extras, then select the +ADD button next to the Cloud DVR option. Next, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Review. Look over the changes, and if you're ready to proceed, select Submit Order. Cloud DVR will then be immediately added to your account.


Add Cloud DVR from the Sling app


Note: The ability to make changes to your Sling subscription in-app is only available on select devices. If your experience doesn't look like what's described below, try adding Cloud DVR from your My Account page at sling.com


To add Cloud DVR directly from the Sling app, navigate to the My TV screen, then scroll down until you see the Add Premium Channels & More ribbon. Find the Cloud DVR image and select it. Follow the on-screen instructions to immediately add Cloud DVR to your subscription.


Additionally, if you're browsing the guide, select an upcoming program to view details. There, you'll see the option to add DVR. Once you've added Cloud DVR, this option will change to the Record option. 


Remove Cloud DVR


To remove DVR from your account, log in at sling.com and select Change Subscription. Under Extras, select the check mark next to Cloud DVR so it changes to +ADD. From there, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Review. Look over the changes, and if you're ready to proceed, select Submit Order. Cloud DVR will then be removed from your account at the end of your current billing cycle.

Can I fast-forward through commercials?


Cloud DVR allows you to fast-forward through commercials on all recordings, except for select channels. For these select recordings, you'll be shown a Video On-Demand version of your recording, which will not allow you to fast-forward through commercials. 


What happens if I hit capacity?


We'll make sure that you always have enough room for your favorite programming by automatically deleting the oldest-watched recordings as you reach capacity.
